Well you cannot get a greater contrast. After an early start we ventured to a very swish hotel in Manila to catch a minibus for a three hour journey to the coast to get on a boat (with outriggers, typically Philippino) for an hours journey across to Mindoro and Coco Beach. The crossing got a bit choppy after half-way, and one or two team members were bit green.
The resort is lovely especially if you like the beach. We're staying in beach huts up the side of the hill made of bamboo and wood - no concrete in site. Each hut is looked after by a Philippino family so the money they receive in tips etc goes toward supporting local families.
Team members have spent the afternoon either swimming or siesta. We're on the lookout for mosquitoes though!!! We certainly feel in need of a rest after a very busy week, and it's good to be able to process all that we've seen and experienced. I'm not sure that the contrast between here and the slums in Manila will help or hinder that! But we certainly appreciate the opportunity to be here - eve those who aren't beach-lovers can still chill out.
We're very limited in our time on the internet, and we can't put photos on the blog while we're here, so apologies for that (it's not deliberate, honest!!!!)
