Praxis Team bids farewell to the Jigsaw Team |

This evening we joined in a celebration meal with the Jigsaw Team at an 'Eat as much as you like' buffet restaurant in town. The menu focused on national dishes from the Philippines including the ever-present rice, seafood, pork, and a very interesting drink in which you put lots of different ingredients includingarios jelly beans, jelly, along with ice and condensed milk, and aparently any other desserts you fancy, all stirred well together. I can't recall seeing any adobe chicken though. It felt very strange seeing the Team members without their Jigsaw T-shirts, but it gave them the opportunity to dress up. In fact for two members of the team this was their first ever time in any kind of restaurant! It was a special occasion for both Teams, and we were able to express our thanks to them, and to say what we had learnt from them, and what had made an impression on us this week. Hopefully some of the Team will blog their thoughts over the next day or so. While it was a celebration it was also a sad time for both teams as they realised that this was our last time together after a week crammed full of working together and sharing life together.
The most important thing about this week has been our experiences and our relationships with people from a different culture, but part of the same family. But Tim was also able to share news about the money for a new bus (as mentioned in an earlier blog), and that during the afternoon we had purchased a new computer for Jigsaw from gifts brought over by various members of the Praxis Team. The computer will be used mainly for designing publications and website - one of the Jigsaw Team is being sponsored through a course in Photoshop and PageMaker (graphics and DTP software packages) and this will enable him to do his work and develop his skills.
In case you're wondering why we are saying farewell several days before our trip ends, it is simply because the work with Jigsaw has come to an end. Tomorrow we'll go to church for a very different experience from the previous week as we attend a mega-church in Manila. The following day we head off to a beach resort for a chance to relax and to reflect on the trip - it's a place that Kate and Tim have used to escape from it all.
