7+ Kids Club Saturday morning at Area 4 |
| Posted by Malcolm Egner (mjegner) on Nov 10 2007 at 2:35 PM |
Jill, Malcolm and I helped with the 7+ Kids Club this morning in Area 4. About fifty children attended and things were in full swing when we arrived. One group had Play Dough and Jill entertained them by making rings, bracelets and even necklaces, all in a lovely shade of blue! Another group were painting a picture of Noddy in an array of colours, it was strange to see daffodils in red and green but I don't suppose they grow here. Lego was popular as ever and a lot of the boys were building guns which isn't surprising as there are plenty about.
Enthusiastic singing followed with all the actions and then to really run off steam, a sack race. The kids lined up in four very orderly lines and the leaders demonstrated the technique, get into the sack and jump around another leader and back to base, then to the end of the line and sit with hands on head. Lots of cheering and shouting and only a bit of gamesmanship when Roland edged his chair a bit closer!
The puppet show and drama with Malcolm and Roland demonstrating hand washing before food were as ever greeted with howls of laughter. The craft for the day was glove puppet making but we ran out of gloves (and socks!) so had to create extras by folding sheets of paper which the children decorated with eyes and hair and then drew the faces. This seemed to please them just as much.
We had to leave before the end (and before the feeding programme). We returned to the Guest House and enjoyed a picnic which Kate had bought, real bread, cheese, ham and tuna to make sandwiches which was a treat after a diet of piles of plain rice with everything. We finished off with bananas and cake and half the group went shopping while the rest of us stayed to swim and relax.

| Sounds very positive and good fun for all. It must feel good for them to have involvement. You will be able to send pictures out later perhaps. | |
